Nanoscale materials have attracted growing attention due to their size-dependent properties and broad application potential. In this lecture, the optical properties, synthesis methods, and selected applications of semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) and metal nanoparticles will be presented, with a focus on the underlying concepts and their connection to practical applications.
